Hanukkah is one of those holidays that brings everyone together: kids, adults, grandparents, teachers, and whole communities. Whether you’re planning a family celebration, a classroom Hanukkah party, or a youth group event, it’s always helpful to have quick, low-prep activities on hand.
This year, I wanted to create games that are:
- easy enough for kids,
- fun enough for adults,
- and cute enough to add a festive touch to any celebration.
That’s how my Hanukkah Roll & Race games were born!
What Makes This Hanukkah Game for Kids So Fun?
If you’ve never played Roll & Race, it’s one of the easiest holiday games ever.
All you need is:
- a printed game sheet
- one die (or use the printable dice sheet)
- a pencil or marker
Each player rolls, finds the row with their number, and crosses off the next symbol.
The first person to reach the bottom wins!
It’s fast, silly, easy to understand, and great for mixed ages.
Why Roll & Race Works So Well for Hanukkah
When I designed these Hanukkah editions, I wanted them to feel joyful, inclusive, and fun for all ages. The symbols I used include dreidels, menorahs, gelt, candles, oil jugs, stars, and gifts, which help kids recognize important parts of the holiday while simply having fun.
These games are perfect for:
- classroom celebrations
- family Hanukkah parties
- synagogue events
- holiday mixers
- after-school programs
- senior adult activities
Because they’re print-and-go, you can easily use them for last-minute planning, substitute teacher activities, or creating a Hanukkah activity station.
I now have two Hanukkah Roll & Race games in my Etsy shop, each with different artwork and symbols, so kids can play more than once without repeating the same board.
1. Hanukkah Roll & Race: Dreidel Edition
This game board features menorahs, stars, gifts, and gelt — great for mixed-age groups and parties.

How to Use These Games at a Hanukkah Party
Here are a few ideas you can use the game with your guests:
Game Station Setup
Print several sheets, set out dice and markers, and let guests play as they arrive. This is a great option for the classroom as kids can easily rotate through, play a round, then move on.
Tournament Style
Do best two-out-of-three and give winners small prizes like gelt or stickers.
Quiet-Time Activity
Perfect for classrooms that need calm transitions during the holiday week.
Small Group or Religious Education
Use it as a quick icebreaker before your lesson.
Family Challenge Round
Play after lighting the candles one night of Hanukkah. Print one page per family member and race at the table.
Printing Tips
To make the games look their best:
- Print on cardstock for sturdiness
- Laminate for reuse (I have a Scotch laminator)
- Use dry-erase markers for classroom rounds
- Pair with a dreidel craft or gelt bingo to extend the activity
