Every year when Mother’s Day rolls around, families and churches start planning special gatherings to celebrate the women who mean so much to us.

Sometimes it’s a Mother’s Day brunch, a family dinner, or even a women’s ministry appreciation event at church. And while the food and decorations are important, one thing that really helps people relax and connect is having a simple activity everyone can participate in together.

Fun and simple mother's day game to play with your family

That’s actually one of the reasons I started creating group games for Pretty Cute Press. I love designing activities that help people laugh, share stories, and make memories during gatherings.

One of my favorite games for Mother’s Day events is a simple this or that trivia-style activity called:

“Who Knows Mom Best?” Game

What Is the “Who Knows Mom Best?” Game?

The idea is simple.

Guests try to guess Mom’s real answers to fun questions about her preferences.

For example:

Would Mom rather…

A. Drink coffee
B. Drink tea

or

Would Mom rather…

A. Go to the beach
B. Go to the mountains

The person who guesses the most answers correctly wins!

It’s lighthearted, easy to run, and works beautifully for both family gatherings and church events.

Why I Created an Interactive Version of the Game

Traditional printable games are fun, but I wanted something that felt more like a shared group experience.

So I designed an interactive presentation version that you can display on a TV, projector, or laptop.

That way, everyone in the room can see the question, vote together, and then watch the answer reveal. I've even added A or B voting cards that attendees can use to showcase their answer.

It works especially well for:

• Mother’s Day brunches
• family celebrations
• women’s ministry events
• church Mother’s Day gatherings
• mother-daughter banquets

If you’ve ever hosted a large gathering, you know how helpful it is to have an activity that gets everyone participating at once.

What’s Included in the Game

I designed the game to be simple for hosts to run.

Inside the download, you’ll find:

• an interactive Canva presentation game template
• 24 pre-written game questions
• answer reveal slides
• printable A/B voting paddles
• printable score sheets
• instructions and a short tutorial video

Because the game is editable in Canva, you can easily customize Mom’s answers before the party.

How the Game Works

Hosting the activity is very simple.

  1. Open the presentation on a laptop, TV, or projector.
  2. Display the first question slide.
  3. Guests hold up their A or B voting paddles to guess Mom’s answer.
  4. Click to reveal Mom’s real answer.
  5. Guests track their score on the score sheet.
  6. The person with the most correct guesses wins.

Most groups play 15–25 questions, which makes the activity perfect as an icebreaker during a brunch or celebration.

Perfect for Church Mother’s Day Events

One of the things I love most about designing games is seeing how people adapt them for different types of gatherings.

This particular game can work well for:

• women’s ministry events
• church appreciation luncheons
• Mother’s Day fellowship gatherings
• ladies’ tea events

Turn the Fun Into Meaningful Memories

One of the things I love about games like Who Knows Mom Best is how they often spark stories.

Someone guesses an answer, and suddenly Mom starts sharing a memory about when she was younger, a favorite vacation, or something from her childhood.

Those moments are actually a wonderful opportunity to capture family stories.

That’s one of the reasons I created my Life Story Interview Kit, a collection of thoughtful questions designed to help families record meaningful memories from parents and grandparents.

While the game is a fun way to celebrate Mom, the interview questions, along with the helpful AI Storyteller Assistant, help you preserve the stories behind the moments.

Many families use the questions during holidays, family gatherings, or quiet conversations with parents.

    Other Meaningful Mother’s Day Activities

If you're planning a longer celebration, you might want to include a few different activities throughout the event.

    Some ideas include:

    • Mother's Day trivia games
    • advice for mom cards
    • family memory sharing activities
    • gratitude or appreciation boards

Another activity many families enjoy is asking Mom about her life experiences and memories.

That’s exactly what my Life Story Interview Kit was designed for: helping families capture stories from parents and grandparents before those memories are lost.

Tools I Use to Create These Games

If you’ve ever wondered how I design these interactive games, I build most of them using tools like:

Canva for designing the presentation templates
PowerPoint when I want more control over slide structure

These tools make it easy to create customizable activities that hosts can quickly personalize.

    Making Gatherings More Memorable

One of the things I’ve learned from hosting and attending many gatherings over the years is that people remember the moments they shared together, not just the decorations or the menu.

Simple activities like this game can help guests laugh, learn something new about Mom, and create memories everyone talks about later.
