A simple, stress-free way to create a personalized Hanukkah greeting card your family and friends will love.

One of my favorite things about the holidays is sending something personal. A card with real photos, real memories, and a little heart behind it. And the good news? You don’t need fancy design skills to make that happen.

If you picked up my Hanukkah photo card template from Pretty Cute Press, this post walks you through exactly how to edit it in Canva, the same way I show you step-by-step in the YouTube video. It’s easy, flexible, and honestly kind of fun once you get started.

Let’s jump in.

Personalize Hanukkah Photo Greeting Cards for Grandparents

Getting Started: Opening Your Hanukkah Photo Card Template

After purchase (or download), you’ll receive a PDF with a Canva link. When you click that link, Canva will automatically create a copy of the template inside your account.

That’s important because it means:

  • You’re never editing the original
  • You can experiment freely
  • You can always duplicate it if you want to try different versions

I’ve already removed placeholder images for you, so there’s no cleanup required. When the template opens, you’ll see four photo frames ready to be customized, perfect for highlighting family moments, kids, or favorite holiday memories.

Adding Your Photos (Drag, Drop, Done)

This is the part most people worry about, but Canva makes it super intuitive.

Here’s how it works:

  • Upload your photos to Canva
  • Drag and drop a photo right into any frame
  • Canva automatically crops it to fit — no extra steps

Want to swap a photo? Just drag a new one over the frame. Canva replaces it instantly.

To fine-tune:

  • Double-click the photo to reposition it
  • Adjust so faces are centered, or details look just right
  • Rotate if needed for better alignment

Take your time here — this is where your card really comes to life.

Adding Color or Patterns (Especially for Smaller Frames)

Not every frame has to be a photo. In fact, I love using color or pattern in one of the smaller sections to balance everything out.

You can:

  • Click a frame and change the color using Canva’s color picker
  • Stick with classic Hanukkah blues, soft neutrals, or even a pop of gold

If you want something a little more playful:

  • Search Canva elements for “pattern paper”
  • Drag a pattern into the frame just like you would a photo

You can mix solids and patterns or keep things simple — there’s no wrong choice here.

Editing the Text (Make It Yours)

» TIP: Need pretty backgrounds and patterns for your project? Check out this great resource.

All of the text on this template — front and back — is fully editable.

You can:

  • Change the greeting wording
  • Add your family name
  • Adjust font colors to match your photos or background
  • Or delete text entirely if you prefer a cleaner look

Don’t love a decorative element or accent? Click it and delete it. Canva’s undo button is always there if you change your mind.

Even the outlines around the photo frames can be recolored. Add more Hanukkah blue or keep them classic white.

Downloading Your Card for Printing

Once everything looks just the way you want it, it’s time to download.

Here’s what I recommend:

  1. Click Share → Download
  2. Choose PDF Print for the best quality
  3. Select Current page if you’re printing one side
  4. Download and print

The template is sized for 8.5 x 11 inches, so make sure your printer settings are set to actual size for the best results.

» TIP: Always print at 100% or “actual size” in your printer settings to preserve the original dimensions of your printable.
